Baghdad is taking a significant step in urban development with the Baghdad Metro, a transformative infrastructure project designed to modernize transportation across the capital. The network will feature seven lines spanning 148 km with 64 stations, including underground, surface, and elevated sections, connecting key areas of the city and allowing for future expansion.
The project is supported by international experts and finance institutions, working alongside local authorities to ensure effective planning and execution. It highlights the government’s focus on enhancing urban mobility, reducing traffic congestion, and promoting economic growth in Iraq’s largest city, home to over eight million residents.
Once completed, the metro will serve as a modern, efficient, and sustainable public transport system, marking a milestone in Baghdad’s broader infrastructure and urban development plans. This initiative underscores the capital’s commitment to building a connected, forward-looking city that can support both residents and businesses in the years ahead.
