Kirkuk cycling festival brings cheer to the city

Kirkuk witnessed Monday the launching of the one day Kirkuk Bicycles Festival.

A source in the organizing committee of the festival said that 300 cyclists from both males and females from All over Iraq participated in the race.

He pointed out that the track of the race was about 2 kilometers where it was started from the gate of Madinaty residential project near Kirkuk University to Baghdad Street along the University road .

He disclosed that both Hardan Al Handal the Vice chairman of Al Handal International Group and Faris Balbeisy the General Manager  of Ebr Al Modun participated in the race.  

He added that the festival was running under the patronage of Madinaty residential project  and the Ashur International Bank for Investment (AIB) in addition to AMWAL for Financial services.

Meanwhile Madinaty residential project of Kirkuk has been taking part in the sponsoring of the festival beside the Kirkuk Municipality and University in addition to the Kirkuk Investment Authority he disclosed.  

On the other hand, he confirmed that 120 volunteers of youths from all over Iraq has volunteered to provide logistical support for competitors of water and juices.

Also, the Kirkuk Electricity Directorate as well as the patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) the second branch added to Kirkuk Governorate and Kirkuk athletes Union have been supported the activities of the festival.

However, Kirkuk Traffic and Operations Departments participated in the Organizing of the festival; as well, both the Emergency and the Protection of the Facilities Forces and the civil defense supported the festival.

The health Directorate  Kirkuk took part in organizing the race where it and provided the race with two fully equipped ambulances to follow the riders and intervene in case of any emergency.

In addition, both Al Youm and Lana Broadcasts supported the festival.

The organizing committee of the Festival confirmed that the one-day Festival aims at activating the sports sectors and provide an opportunity for youth to participate in sports activities.

They added that the festival highlights the Madinaty residential project, which designed primarily to stimulate the real estate sector in Iraq and solve the housing problems. 

This festival witnessed extensive coverage by the media where Al Sumaraia and Radawo covered the activities of the festival.

Also NRT TV add to Al Iraqia, Hona Al Anbar TVs, and Salahuddin , Turkmen TVs covered the race.
